I was at the local gun shop yesterday and got to touchy feally a charles dailey in 45 acp.  They have already done a lot of the stuff that most people do to a 1911 pistol, trigger, hammer, mag well, serations on the front of slide ect ect.  Any one else looked closley at them??

I had a chance to look one over at Buckeye Outdoors just east of Columbus Ohio the other day. Everything looked good except the muzzle. The crown, if that is the right term for a handgun, had a pretty bad ding in it. I looked at 2 or 3 and they all had the same thing. But you're right, they already had most of the bells and whistles that folks like on a 1911. An the price was sure enough right. They had them for $529 out the door. Phil...

The price you stated is too high, and that's not counting the money you'll spend trying to get the piece "up to speed". Buy a Colt, or SA for a little more & have a good, functional piece out of the box.

If you really want a 1911, spend a little extra and get a good Springfield or a Kimber and you will have an accurate reliable handgun out of the box. Remember if a deal sounds to good to be true it usually is and in the case of the Charles Daly 1911 this statement is more than true. :D

$375 to $425 would be more like it since you will probably exchange all the sloppy fitting pins for roll pins or fitted oversized.  After that they really seem to come together.

About 2 years ago I bought a one of the tricked out Charles Dalys.  Looked good and felt good.  It was so good that the next week I got the factory to send me another one.  Seems the first one was so bad it would never fire 3 shots in a row.  After the factory got it back they told me it was un-repairable and they would send me a new one, which they did.  This new one would shoot and did not jam  more then 1 round in 20 or so (which did not inspire confidence).  It also showed battering on the frame after only 500 rounds.  More battering on the frame then a friends 1940's era Colt shows after god alone knows how many thousands of rounds.

Last year I traded it plus boot for a NIB Kimber Pro Carry II.  Get the Kimber or a Springfield.  Stay away, far away from the Charles Daly.

Just picked a new one at a gunshow from a dealer for 375.00  took it out to the range yesterday and shot a ragged hole with it.  I guess I went through about 60 rounds shooting against my sons model 21 glock.  I have the model thats about commander size I guess.  I love it four stars!!!  Not a single problem, (with hard ball that is)!!!  I really enjoyed shooting it, probably the best accuracy I have ever achieved with a 45, out of the box That includes colt, springfield, thompson, para ordenance (straight models)
