Lyman Plain Pistol
« on: April 07, 2004, 04:19:13 AM »
Finally ordered one after about 20 years intermittent use of the Great Plains Rifle.  It appears this is going to be very accurate although my first range session was fairly short.  It hit close to point of aim at 25 yards with the hornady .490 ball over 40 grains of pyrodex p.

Anybody have experience with these?

They are a nice toy and I have both the 50 and 54 barrels for mine.  I like it but haven't really found any practical use for it.

I like the belt hook and makes for a convient carry, but I end up leaving it behind just to save weight when carrying a rifle when hunting.

I have one I picked up NIB from a guy a bit short on cash.  Haven't gotten around to firing it yet.  I'm willing to bet it won't shoot to point of aim as the sights are obviously off center, but that's just a matter of drifting them to the right place.

Mine was very nearly right on and elevation is fine.  I did drive the rear just a bit.  This was from 50 feet one-handed like a duelist and shooting over a chronograph.  I like it alot.
