« on: April 07, 2004, 08:14:38 AM »
:-) Ok-- I have depleted my long lasted supply of Alberts Bullets--  Am trying to find something on the current market that will get the job done. Don't have the time to try 40 different brands etc. If you have something that really has worked for you, PLEASE be kind enough to give me a clue. THANKS!! to all   :D  National comes to mind, as well as Zero Bullets. USED these??  ALSO-- Need a source for 256 Win MAG brass- Not reformed, if I can help it.

Bullets are easy - you want something soft enough to scratch easily with your fingernail, and the same diameter as the chamber mouths in your cylinder. Factory made? Tough to find any soft enough usually. That said, I have had great luck with the Hornady and Speer swaged bullets in guns with proper sized cylinders. Not worth a darn in Rugers and Smiths and their .433" holes!

As for .256 brass, if you're going to shoot it get some that have been made from recent 357 mag cases. I like Starline the best. The old Winchester stuff is too valuable to be shooting anymore, IMHO.

Nobade--- Well that is the case---the specials are Smith's--- I would well shoot the winchester 256, but cannot find any  :(  I do have however 1000 pcs of Starline 357 I kicked back some years ago.    Guess it is time to call Redding, case forming etc. Thanks!

Nobade is right on.  Just be sure to anneal the 357's before you try to form.  A lot of us get away without the form dies.  Anneal and go slow.  Winchester always worked well for me.  Starline brass is generally a little thicker(love them for everything else).   Don't know about their  357. BOL
