I use 50 cal. 240 Gr power belts with two 50 cal. 777 pellets.
I have never had a problem with them.
At 100 yards I shoot 3 to 4 inch groups all day.
Took my 7 point buck with it last fall, 75 yards double lunger.

I shot a few Deer with powerbelts. They were the 245grn in 50cal.
There is no comparision to me versus a DeadCenter bullet. I have shot Deer with the 220grn .40cal And the 300grn .44cal. They are not as accurate and DeadCenters are cheaper. I have used all three, and the DeadCenter is by far superior. :grin:

They are? I can get aero tip 245 and 295 PB pack of 15 for $12 and hollow point 295 and 348 PB pack of 20 for $13 from my local gun shop. The only way I've seen the Deadcenter's cheaper is if you order in bulk. Not to mention PR adds another $2 to shipping if they're shipped to a residential address. Where are you finding cheap Deadcenters?

I have yet to hunt with either of these since I just got into ML. But the PB's shoot pretty well out of my Encore. My last range trip I had a 1.25" grouping with the 295 hollow point PB and 2 50gr pellets of T7. I do have a pack of Deadcenters to try but I just ran out of range time.

All depends on what you are looking for-- the QT's are 10.95, Extremes are 8.95. Ordering bulk is certainly the way if you do a lot of shooting; if you don't shoot much-- it matters just that much less.

That said, I do like Powerbelts-------------- as long as the 348, 405, or 444 FN weights are being referred to.

            When you buy them direct from canada they are cheaper.
The 125 pack, and the 250 pack are cheaper then Powerbelts. I havent priced smaller packs from canada. 125 bullets isnt really that many bullets to me. Cabelas wants $20.00 i think for 20 bullets. Once you shoot and hunt with them, you will see what i mean. 220grn .40cal and 300grn .44cal have been awesome out of my Knight and Encore.

Randy, why only the heavier weights? I shot both the 295 hp and the 348 aero with close to the same results at 100 yds. The only difference being the 348's grouped about an 1.5" lower with the same 2 pellet, T7 charge.

Grouse, yeah, buying the bulk packs is cheaper. I did get my Deadcenters direct from Cecil at PR.

I hunt! Have shot deer in 6 different decades.... 295 hollowpoint, with
2, 50gr pyrodex / 777 is terrific on deer. Don't spend a lot of time at the range, so $15 a year ($9, with a $5 off coupon at Dick's), is just good
enough to carry through to the next season. I also love using my index finger as a bullet starter, something I always do with no loss of accuracy... Accuracy, ease of use, and devastating knockdown power,
is why I will use nothing else than Powerbelt!

The hollow point is the same size and depth on the 245 gr. .50 caliber version as it is on the 295, 348, 405. The problems come in on the HP lightweight versions hitting bone at close range. Where the 348 and 405 have substantial mass left if the nose is blown off, the 295 and 245 (particularly) may not. It is the 245 gr. that has yielded the most problematic results.

I have also had great accuracy from .245 Powerbelt "Aero Tip" using
80gr 777, in my CVA Hawken Kit rifle. No problem on deer. Randy's
statement on bullet disintegration, from hollow points in lower weights makes sense. Thought I'd pass along this: Years ago I was Director of Fitness at West Point. The rifle coach there, always advised me to use hollowpoints, "compressed air makes a more accurate bullet point".
I found a sale on aero tip light weight Powerbelts, and just loved the way they shot in my Hawken. I am not into product bashing, but once I bought a pack of SST something or others, at $6.99 I figured I would cut down cost in getting my rifles on paper, and switch back to Powerbelts, for
honing and hunting... I was extremely dissatisified, with the amount of pressure to push these bullets down the barrel. Also was very queezy,
about bullet seating... I accepted my $6.99 loss, and bought an extra pack of Powerbelts....

I have yet to hunt whitetail with PB's, but have hunted elk with them.  My first year using them I shot a nice 6 x 6 at 60 yds, slightly quatering away.  Perfect shot, but the 295 grain aerotip did not bust through the opposite shoulder.  Take a look at the chart that is in every pack of PB's.  This is my opinion, but if you want good knock down power go with a larger 348 or 405.  Here is the Kinetic Energy (ft lbs) from powerbelts chart.  the 295 at 100 yds is 1175 ft lbs, compared to the 348 at 1304 ft lbs and the 405 at 1481.  I made the mistake of choosing velocity over impact, and most definately will not go less than 348.  I will be hunting whitetail this year and will use the same 405 gr PB that I will be taking on my elk hunt.  I don't like to track an animal if I don't have to.  I want em to drop where they stand.  The 6 x 6 did not go far, bout another 150 yards, but only because he was hit through both lungs.  He was shot twice and neither 295 aerotip went all the way through.

I use the 295 grain HP's over two 50 grain Pyrodex pellets. Accuracy is very good. My Omega does not like sabots.
