After waiting for over 4 month for this rifle and no confirmation date when it may arrive i have looked in other directions. Today at a big gun show I found a very nice Ruger #1 in 25-06 for only 200 bucks more than the new Ultra H&R.
The rifle has beautyful wood and close to 100% blueing. It is an older model with the adjustable trigger. From what I can tell it saw very little shooting. The forearm has shrunk a bit and has some latteral play.
This rifle only needs a good tune up and some serious hand loads. The good thing about this rifle is that if it needed a new barrel it would still be less than a new rifle.
My 25 Hunter will be sitting on the side lines for a while until the smoke clears around the Ruger#1. Was gone for two month and just got home a few days ago. Fred M.
