My First Marlin, excessive trigger play question?
« on: April 10, 2004, 07:31:27 AM »
I have just bought my first new Marlin 336, and I have a question for those of you who have owned them for a while. My rifle shoots fine, but there is one thing that I am unsure of. I do not know if it is normal or just a problem with my rifle.

The trigger seems to have an excessive amount of play. In either Cocked or uncocked modes, the trigger can  be wiggled quite a bit, either left to right or front to back. It is worse when the rifle is cocked. Is this normal for these rifles? Should I send mine to marlin for a check up, or is there a do it yourself fix for this.

If it is just the way these rifles are, then I won't worry about it, but if there is something one can do to tighten it up a little, I would love to know.

Thanks
Dave

By use Marlin owners it is called the "floppy trigger" and is nothing to worry about unless you just cannot stand it.  If that is the case get a Wild West Happy Trigger from WWGuns, Cabela's etc.

Thanks alot, I just wont worry about it then. I kinda thought it was normal, and I appreciate the reinforcement.
