Sportsman 3 or 4 power or any of the World Class scopes.

lik2hunt,

I have been using Bushnells since 1965 and have had good success with them.  I recently bought a Tasco 3X9 that I had to take back.  It wouldn't focus beyond 6X.  I'm using Bushnells again (and a Redhead that is Bass Pro's store brand Bushnell).

Well, if I must limit my comments to the Bushnell & Tasco scopes and ignore all others in the price class here it goes:

I had a Tasco that looked good but would not hold zero after only two seasons.   :P I have never owned a Bushnell but they look cheap and clunky to me.  :P    I would not spend good money on either one.  :noway:

The new Tasco World Class (after Bushnell takeover) has a no fault lifetime guarantee.  That in itself will probably get me to try one.  They're $52 at http://www.eabco.com .  I've owned several Bushnells, but not specifically the Sportsman.  They've all been solid reliable scopes.  If you've got the chance, look through them both outdoors in natural light.  Be sure to move around and try different angles to check for flare and wash out.  Good luck, I hope this helps some.

I have been using a Bushnell Sportsman 4-12X40 on my Hornet Contender barrel for about a year now.  This is my NRA Hunter Pistol and gets shot quite a bit (about 1000 rounds last year).  It has held the zero very good and tracking has been precise.  I Change the elevation setting between Pigs and Turkeys on each match and it has always got back to the correct evaluation setting.

For the price, I would get another one.

Of those two scopes, the Tasco WC is much brighter than the Bushnell.  I would not hesitate to purchase a Tasco WC...In fact, I have one already on my CVA 50cal Hunterbolt...Never lost zero in three years.  I have a Bushnell BAnner which is supposed to be a step up from the Sportsman and it has a 40mm objective Lens.  It is not as bright as the Tasco WC that I own that has a 32mm objective lens.  Take that observation as you will...It is only one mans observation...Ultimately the choice is up to you.  Good luck... :wink:

I agree with Whitetailer, from my experience with tasco WC's and Bushnell "banners" (I know banners aren't sportsmans but it's what I have experience with) the Tascos are brighter and the bushnells banners have been more duriable.  I have had 1 WC strip the eye peice (223rem) and another turn it's cross airs (7mm mag) and I've never had a problem with my bushnells (1-sharpshooter, 4-banners, 1-elite3200).

I agree about the Tasco World Class scopes...better value scopes for the money...even though both are relatively inexpensive...

Yep looks like it's gonna be the Bushnell 4x for me. Thanks guys. Gonna put a Sharpshooter on my Huntsman. Check that thread on the MZ forum if you're interested.
