High Wall ,rebarrel
« on: April 13, 2004, 04:09:21 PM »
How does the value of a highwall change when it has been back to factory for rebarrel?  gun was made in 1886 , they did not proof mark until 1911.
does this hurt price?

High Wall re-barrel

Documented Winchester factory re-barrels are treated by collectors and shooters as original OEM.

Price is not affected, as long as the barrel has all the PROPER factory roll-engraved markings.

If the rebarrel is done using an unmarked generic barrel, in a non-factory caliber, with non-factory rifling, you can be sure that the value is decreased to the "functional shooter" category, and nothing like the "factory original" category.
