Which Scope?
« on: April 15, 2004, 11:33:14 AM »
I have a new H&R 223 Ultra Varmint rifle.  And I have two scopes not on any other rifle at the moment.  First Bushnell Legend 5-15x40, second Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40.  I was going to put the 5-15x40 on the 223, but I saw the 10x40 sitting there that I forgot about.

Which one should I mount?  I am just a paper puncher these days.

Thanks for opinions, Mike

The 5-15 for target why not! .223 is alot of fun to shoot, ammo is cheap
and with the 15x you can accuratly shoot some fun!!!! long distance. If
you have a place to shoot long range.

I would use the 5-15, when I crank my scope up past 7x I can see myself "breath" which causes my mind to run thus creating more shakes which means a grouping of 2moa instead of 1moa or less...I shot a redfox when I was 12 with a 700BDL 30/06 that my Dad and I stepped of at 412 steps(his steps not mine) with an old Weaver fixed 4x although I use a 3x-9x 40mm now I really dont need it, mostly use the 8-9x to just judge the wind on the grass/bushes and then crank down to 6 or 7 for the shot and then only if its 300+ mostly keep it around 4x

How do you like the Legend scope?

It is a very good scope.  Like a 3200 without the rainguard.
