what height rings for 17V
« on: April 16, 2004, 11:44:47 AM »
I plan on getting a 5-15x40AO Bushnell Legend for my Dad to put on his 17V.  Does anybody know what height rings I need to get for this scope's power ring to clear the bolt handle?  The ones that came with the gun have been too low to clear both scopes we've tried so far.  I'm planning on getting some decent steel rings, probably some by Leupold.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

Try getting a pair of Burris high height rimfire deluxe rings.  I used them to put a Nikon pro-staff 3-9x40 on mine.

Leopold high rings from WalMart will work fine on the 917V using the Weaver bases that come with the gun. These are not see through rings.

Sorry, I missread your post. These rings will only work with the 917.

I got a pair of the standard height Millet scope rings made to fit on the dovetail mounts, and they have been great.  The bolt handle clears the rear bell by around a quarter of an inch - plenty of room, even if you have big, clumsy hands like me.  They ran me about $25, and have been worth every cent.
Good Luck,
