What kind of groups do you get using factory ammo out of your Encore rifles? Just wondering because factory ammo seems to be more than the .010 - .030 OAL from the lands of most Encore rifles, like most people say is a good measurement for accuracy.

I managed a little under 2" groups using Fedral classic loads in my 06. They were 125 grain Soft points. Yes most guns will find a "happy zone" around the .010 to .030 " mark, but guns a funny. They have personality all their own. So Im POSITIVE someone is gonna write here they are getting 1/2 MOA from their favorite factory loading. But more than just that accuraccy comes from consistancy. Its more about making every round as close to the same as possible. So you can still get amazing accuracy as long as any, some or all of the following things remain consistant: case length, powder charge weight, bullet seating depth, primer burn consistancy. Amazing thing aint it? How something inanimate takes on a life of its own.

I've been shooting Sellier and Belliot ammo.
I'm getting 2" groups with their 130 grain, .270 FMJ cartridges.
That's OK with factory stuff.
Now, with their 55 grain, 223 FMJ, I'm getting 1/2" groups.
That's great with factory stuff

My .270 standard taper barrel spits 'em out in the 1.5" range pretty much across the board. Win BST, Hornady SST and Rem PSPCL. Does a little better with handloads. Would probably do better in the hands of a shooter!

Heck I reload all my calibers to the industy OAL. Accuracy is always good and I have not seen any earth startling accuracy improvements when I have seated them out closer to the rifling. But now, I know that goes against everything we have been tought about reloading!
