Yes, most folks tend to use the weaver style mounts, but others are available. I like the aluminum ones from Virgin Valley for my encore pistol because they cut them short enough so as they don't hang out over the taper of the barrel. Not to expensive either. T/C makes an all-in-one set up called the duo-ring.
Converson kits are available, but I'm not familiar with them.
