replacement screws for Ruger rings?
« on: April 21, 2004, 07:40:27 AM »
I had heard before the Brownells made replacement screws for the Ruger rings.  Anyone know anything about this?  I just bought a used 77 that has the screws all buggered up and would like to replace them with either a torx or cap head screw.

Blair,

Call Ruger direct and they'll mail them to you. Why pay a middleman?

You can get them from Brownells-----Torx that is------Ruger will just send you the same crappy slotted screws that the rings came with.

blair,
B-Square makes a set of replacement screws for Ruger rings with an allen head.  They are not too pricey.

Blair, I bought Torx screws directly from Ruger last year. They have blued and target grey screws. I bought the target grey screws for my stainless rifle and they are a good match. Dave

:D Morn'in Ruger shooters,

Thanks for the tip about the torx head screws.

As we all know, the sloted screws can get dinged over time, and until you get into the BIG allen head screws (about 1/4" and bigger), I have yet to see one where a person wasn't on the ragged edge for a problem with eather the wrench or the screw.

I hate allen screws almost as much as I hate phillips screws! Sure glad they don't use phillips on scopes! If they did it would keep a lot of smiths busy just drilling them out for replacement.

Keep em coming!
