What's the Difference?

Between the regular Handi Rifle and the Ultra Hunter?

I've got one Handi in .223 and a 30-30/12 gauge combo and am thinking of adding a .270.  Fitting the .223 for the .270 barrel seems like an economical way to do it but would I gain something from having the Ultra Hunter?

Looking through the 2004 catalog, I didn't really see that much difference.  What am I missing? :?

The Handi and ultra Hunter, the only difference I can see is the stock (the ultra's are laminated).  My 223 Ultra Varmint has "Ultra" on the barrel, but a 24" replacement barrel is probably the same.

The accessories catalog lists the laminated stock so it can be bought seperate as well.  Mostly just a looks thing.  My Ultra stock is checkered and the Handi's are not.

Personal preference is all.

The BC and target models are the only ones with a REAL difference.  the receivers are color case hardened.  Other than that and stocks, they too are the same.  Barrels are all the same for SB-2's
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

Wll if that's the only diff then it's barrelo only for me :-)

My .223 handi came with a lam stock anyway.  Just luck of the draw I guess.

Thanks

i noticed that my 243 ultra varmit has a better finish on the receiver. and the hammer lockup is smoother than my other handi's. although handi's are like your kids, you like them all regardless of the differences !
