Where to get a good deal on the 8X57 Mil surp ammo?
« on: April 21, 2004, 03:50:54 PM »
I have not been keeping up with mil surps lately. I would like to get a lead on the best deal for the 8X57 mil surp ammo. Is any of the Turk ammo available in the heavy ball?

Ed,

Both are good buys on corosive plinking ammo but its not heavy ball - I pulled a bullet and it weighted just over 150 grs.  The one below may be different - I've not tried it so don't know.

Here's a good buy on heavy ball (but its not Turkish).

Pick up a copy of Shotgun News. Lots of ammo advertised in that publication.

There is Turkish Ammo at the ammunitionstore.com  its $125.95 for 3,360rds.  and at Southern Ohio Gun they have Yugo in heavy ball 1,800rds for about $147 delivered.  The only other sources you can checkout are J&G Sales who just bought all the 8MM surplus ammo that Century Arms had or Sportsmansguide.com they have some different brands of surplus 8MM ammo.  I just checked AIM and their all out there are no listing for 8mm.                     "Frugal" at times;   BigBill

Both my 98/22 and m48 like the Turkish ammo.
Both sportsmans guide and cheaper than dirt have the 80 round bandoleers for around $4 bucks each.  Just remember this old stuff is corrosive, and clean after every shooting.
