What changes would make Silhouette better for you?
« on: April 22, 2004, 11:14:39 AM »
I would like to see a few more sighter shots allowed.  5 is fine when I am on my home range (sometimes 2 is enough there) but when at a totally unfamiliar range 10 would sure be nice on occasion.

I would also like to see us allow a shooter to participate in the Regional, and International without having to shoot his 3 entries each year.  If you don't have a particular match type near you say Big Bore but you do participate in small bore why not allow you to shoot Big Bore at a regional?  That seems reasonable to me.

What would you like to see that would make the game more enjoyable for you?

Eliminate the stupid rule that prohibits the arms from touching any part of the body when shooting standing.  Freestyle shooters can have anything touching, this ain't bullseye.  Hell, I'm surprised that they don't require you to shoot one-handed.
As the previous post said, eliminate the stupid rule that requires three entries in a catagory to shoot in the Internationals.
Eliminate the stupid rule that requires a revolver or automatic to be loaded with five rounds.
I'm sure there are more stupid rules in the book, but I can't think of them right now.

Hi Clyde

On the revolver and five shots, are you against not being able to mark the worst chamber or would you want to be albe to use the one best?  I am all for marking the bad one (most have figured out how to identify it anyway why not just admit it and move on?).  Do you think you would have time to single load a single action for production and not run out of time during the 2 minute firing period?

I am keeping an open mind on lots of things Clyde, such as a fellow carving his initials in the gun or changing a screw from a sloted to a hex head. Who would really be concerned over things like that?

Revolver chambers

Before they passed that stupid rule requiring five shots to be loaded in a revolver, I used a Ruger SB .44 and a US Arms .44 loading one cylinder at a time, never ran out of time.

Sounds good too me Clyde.  I never shot revolver much, only with loaner guns so didn't get much time in with it.  By the time I had joined the IHMSA the FA's simply dominated Revolver and I just can't afford one so I just stayed away from revolver.  Loaded with just one chamber a Ruger might have stood more of a chance.

Anyway it is good to know it is doable in the 2 minutes.

While I got you, what would you think of Field pistol returned to straight wall pistol cartridges only and in a full discipline with both Standing and freestyle entries?
