Best Barrel Length For 7-30 Waters?
« on: April 23, 2004, 07:18:08 PM »
Can any of you tell me what the best barrel length is to get the best velocity out of a T/C Contender Carbine in 7-30 Waters?  I'd like to maximize velocity without having an overly long barrel if possible.  I have a 24" barrel and am considering having it cut down a little bit but don't want to sacrifice too much velocity.  The 24" just seems a little bit long and ungainly looking to me.  I was thinking maybe 22".  What do you think?

It's not as long as you may think.  A 24 inch barrel in a Contender frame has a shorter overall length than a 94 Winchester 20 inch depending on stock.
