Scope Finish???
« on: April 24, 2004, 02:51:59 AM »
I have heard from 2 different sources that either Simmons or Bushnell are putting out scopes that will match Ruger SS finish. I have checked the manufacturers sites and there isn't any info there. I was just wanting to know if this is true or not? Thanks, ELMO

Scope Finish???

I can't answer that, but I can tell you if you need to match a scope to a finish, Spradlin's can take care of that for you.

I have a 7 mag that I had a custom finish applied to the metal.  It looked great but it is a smoky grey color to which no scope would match.  I sent a gloss black Leupold (at the direction of Leupold) to them with one of my scope rings.  It came back perfectly matched with a very durable finish.

Cost is about $80 and it won't void Leupold's warranty.  Not sure about others.

I think the website is www.jimspradlin.com

Scope Finish???

I don't believe Bushnell is advertising a matched scope. Also I think that ruger has at least three different SS finishes. There mini 14 looks galvanized and I have seen some of there rifles that are a matte SS and some that are a polished SS. Its pretty hard to match scopes to rifles sometimes, I hear of problems with it everyday. If any would match it would be to a matte SS rifle.

I've always liked the look of a black scope on a SS gun as long as the rings match the rifle and it had a black synthetic stock.
