Shotgun Scope for 30-30
« on: April 24, 2004, 11:17:43 AM »
Is there any reason a "Shotgun" scope can't be used on a rifle?  I have a 21" 30-30 Contender carbine barrel and I'd like to put a low power scope on it.  Seems that the 1x or 1-4x scopes are called shotgun or black powder scopes.

It will work fine - they are just focused for 50 yards rather than 100 and, a big plus - they usually have very generous eye relief. You will not have any problems - enjoy.

I just put a BSA "shotgun" scope on my .30-06.  Dont plan on shooting vast distances, so paralax adjusted to 50 yards works for me.  Many manufacturers, if you send them the scope, will adjust paralax to whatever you want.  Of course now theyve got those nifty fast adjust paralax scopes.....
