FRIGG'N CASE TRIMMER!!
« on: April 24, 2004, 05:30:56 PM »
I've got an RCBS Trimmer 2 that is past its prime, or maybe its just that I'm past mine but that damned thing is a real bear to work properly and it won't trim consistently from case to case.  SO, it looks like this old guy is in the market for a new trimmer (electric for sure).  I'm wondering if anybody out there has one he values more than his dog/wife/pickup (you choose!).  I'm also wondering if anybody knows of a trimmer to avoid at all costs.

I just use the Lee ones. It's a bit of a nuisance having to by a pilot for every cartridge but they are cheap. I mount it in my cordless drill, trim, champfer and polish with fine steel wool in seconds. Can do it while watching TV.

RCBS will most likely replace that trimmer for free if you give them a call and tell them the problem.  I doubt they'd care how old it is either.

Forster makes some nice trimming equipment, and you can motorize it as well.

Dust - I would be more than happy to make you a deal on your old RCBS trimmer. Mine is the first generation RCBS that I have used an electric drill for power on......still works but I hate the collet setup. Name your price..........

May seem like a stretch, but I can trim cases at almost the same speed by hand with my Lee trimmer as I can load and unload them from some of the other machines with crank shafts. Can trim every case to the nearest .001" by measuring first and counting turns after a little practice. Couldn't get that kind of consistency or speed out of the other case trimmers I tried.

Well, I went and ordered an RCBS electrical unit with that quick lock handle and in a few days I'll know whether or not I've tossed $150 into the toilet.

I just purchased the motor unit and put on my case trimmer 2.  You will be very happy with it.  It spins plus feeds.  Good investment.

I use the RCBS electric trimmer. Trimmed thousands of cases. If you get a 3 way cutter to go with it it really speeds up the chore. Trims, chamfers, and de-burrs all in one.  KN
