HELP! Power Pac Choke
« on: April 25, 2004, 07:21:31 AM »
I acquired an old Sears and Roebuck JC Higgins Model 20 (2 3/4"- 12ga).  It appears to be in really good shape, but it reall has an odd looking choke on it.  It is "POWER PAC", it looks like it might be designed sort of as a porting device and a choke.

It came with several round off old paper shells.

[/b]MY QUESTION Can you shoot modern day shotgun shells through this assembly?  In my mind it looks, appears like, the wad culd get hung up in the thing

Sure. That's the first shotgun I ever fired perhaps 45+ years ago. I still have that old shotgun.

There are tubes that screw into the threaded portion of the Power Pac assembly. There were as I recall 3 or maybe four of them originally. I don't think I have but a couple of them that have survived over the years. There was a really short one that was called IC as I recall and another one that was almost a blunderbuss shape. Then a couple of longer ones marked Mod and FC.

As long as you have one of these to put in place I don't think you'll have any problems shooting modern shells. At least I've not.

Graybeard, thanks, it sure looks weird and I do have 3 inserts for with a little spanner wrench to change them with.

Next time I am out at the trap range might just try it for the heck of it.  It was my grandfathers and has been in storage since the 60's but it is great shape.
