The best one I've ever personally looked thru is the B&LL Elite 20-60x80mm made by Bushnell. It is what I use on my range. You will not believe how bright and clear this scope is until you actually look thru it. If you're used to looking thru "normal" scopes most folks own this one will blow you away. It is right up there with the most expensive of the European scopes at less than half their price.

Thanks again Big6x6 and Greybeard..

I have the Leupold Wind River Sequoia 15-45x60 Kit on order from one of the sponsors.  Of the recommended choices, it was in my current price range.

Thanks, Mike

Mine is a long eye relief Bushnell. This was not terribly expensive and is of good quality. It's not nearly as nice as the high-end scopes, though. It's fine for anything when ambient light is good. The best thing about it is the long eye relief so I don't have to take my glasses off to use it, and the controls. They are very smooth and keep their setting.  Its durability has been good too. I carry it around a lot and I don't baby it. It's been good both in the field and at the range. It's fairly compact too.

I have looked through high-end glass, like Leica. The difference is significant, and if I were doing a lot of shooting at extended ranges, or spotting in dim light, then I'd want one.

For shooting mostly at a 100 yard rifle range, there's really no need to spend more than the $200 or so for the Bushnell.  You can see 22 caliber holes very clearly at 100 yards, even in dim light.

Come to think of it, it's perfectly good for 22 caliber holes at 300 yards too.
