HHHMMMMMM.....
Is it always the 1'st 2 cases you try to eject or is it 2 specific chambers every time. ??

Hey Goosepit,

This may be the problem. If so, it's common in the Single Sixes...

thanks guys,
I dont think its the ejector rod, but Ill look into it. I believe it is 2 specific chambers every time, they are always next to each other, so I assume its the same 2 chambers.

The ejector rod thingy is kind of what I was thinking. Thats why I wanted to know if it was always the 1st 2 rounds. Take your cylinder and slip a round into each chamber one at a time and see if there is a noticable difference in fit. You may have a bad cylinder. Have you tried diferent brands of ammo  ?  I have seen odd batches of ammo cause all kinds of weird problems although this sounds more like a real cylinder problem.

Clean your cylinder really good, and look through the chambers with a light. You may have tool marks in a couple chambers causing the expanded cases to grip the chamber walls tighter than the other chambers.

If that's the problem, a couple quick passes with a Dremel tool, and some polishing compound will likely fix it. You won't need to completely take out the marks. Just polish them to knock off the rough edges, and your empty cases should come out easier.

I had to do a couple chambers in my 357 Blackhawk that way, and now it ejects with ease.

For you guys that did the ejector rod fix. Did it fix the problem? I have been noticing on my single-six the same problem for the first 20 or so rounds, the ejector rod sticks and binds, then it works fine? This is with Dynapoints 22LR, not the MAGS.. Also when you put the ejector rod back do you use blue locktight on the screw for the ejector rod assembly? and if so how much? Just a small drop?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,
I have had no problems ejecting any LR's and the ejector rod fix did fix the binding after shooting MAGs. I did not use any loc tite andhave had no problems ( yet ) .... If you do it does not take much. Just a small drop on the threads.

Took the ejector rod had it cut down flat and polished it.  Fired 30 some odd rounds of .22MAGS and 70+ .22LR with no problems........Great fix..

Thanks,

Jim

Look into your cylinder with a flashlight and magnifying glass.  (my dad has this magnifying desk lamp that worked perfect.)  My cylinder had a couple of rough chambers.  A little chunk of OOOO steel wool, polishing compound, and the drill made short work.  Now shine like chrome and easy to extract.  Only rough marks removed.  Worked for me.

Update:

Flatting the ejector rod is an incredible fix! Took my wife to the range (her first time out) and she fell in love with my single-six. She shot it all afternoon, .22LR and MAGS. Not ONE problem with the ejector rod, worked the same from start to end....
A BIG thanks to the guy that figured it out and Jerry for posting it here again.  I have passed this fix on to other boards.

Thanks again,

Jim

I've been away for a while, and just got back on line.

Glad to hear that your gun is working better Jim!

I swear, I just can't figure why Ruger hasn't re-designed the ejector rod their selves? It's such a simple fix for such an agravating problem.
