Does the TC  No. 7612 fit the G2 Contender?

Yes.  I use one with all my 10" barrels when I use them with my G2s.

Now I will have to go look again.  I think it opens fully, but perhaps it does hit on the lugs.  I know that it opens at least as wide as an old style contender.  Perhaps I need to do a little trimming.

After checking I see opening wouldn't be the problem.  It would have interfered with just putting the forend on the frame.

Mine fits.  I don't know what has changed.  I bought this forend used, and the previous owner may have changed it.  If so he did a beautiful job.  Perhaps there are different lengths of side panels on 10" forends, and I got lucky.  Perhaps T/C shortened the ears on G2s.

Bottom line is my previous post has to change.  Your forend may work, or it may have to be modified.  If anyone knows what the difference is between mine and others please post.

Thanks

It wouldn't have mattered much on traditional Contenders if the forearm "cheeks" were a little long would it?  Good thing the fix is so simple.

I just installed the 10" forend on my new from Eds 6 1/2 inch .22 barrel (ordered Monday afternoon, had in hand Wednesday morning thanks Ed) and it fits perfectly.  I wish we could hear from someone else.  I wonder if I got cheated out of some wood, or if you got to much!

That short barrel is a neat looking package on my G2.  Now I wonder what I can do with it...

I still haven't got back up north to pick up my frame on layaway or I would let you know.  I just picked up my 2nd barrel though.  Now have a 10"  .22 LR Match and a 12" 44 REM MAG.   .... and still no frame.  its killin' me...

Finally picked up my G2 frame....

The answer is that the # 7612 does interfere with the G2.  I will be sanding off the corners that interfere on the forend.  For now I am good with the forend that came with the frame on the 10" BBL.    I kinda like that mannlicher look!

Whats the best way to prevent this?  Tighten down the rear forend screw and make sure the barrel is floating with a piece of paper?

use 2 stainless washers. one for each mounting screw. place em between the forend, and barrel(for encore), and at each dovetail on the contender. works great.

I stand corrected.  The 7612 does work on my G2.  It is a close fit, but there is no interference.  Previously I had just held it in place and it looked as though it would interfere, but this morning I attached it and it works great.

I was going to stay with the longer forearm that came with the frame figuring  the longer surface was better for resting, but its too difficult to keep the barrel off the wood out in front, even with the SS washers b/t the wood and barrel in the back.
