JUST GOT A HECK OF A DEAL ON A HUNTSMAN
« on: April 28, 2004, 07:15:55 AM »
My Uncle stopped in and said he was selling his .50 Cal. Huntsman. He purcahsed it last year for 149.99 He also put 3x9-40 scope and mounts on it. He sold it to me with all the accessories for 125.00 I think he gave me a pretty good deal since he only shot it twice.

congrats!!!!! I think that is a great deal. I spent $163 and some change for mine new, not all that long ago. Is this your first Huntsman? If so I think you are going to love it.

BBF - Congrats, that is a good deal! I gave $140 for mine, and $38 for a 3-9x40 scope, $13 for a rail and haven't even gotten the rings yet.
Enjoy that little jewel and post up some shooting results.

Yup BBF,

You've got yourself a good deal there.  You need to send your uncle a thank you card or buy him a beer or something.  $125 is a steal seeing as you have the gun, scope, rail and rings...Let's see how much I paid for my setup...

$121.13  Huntsman
$72.00    Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 Scope
$18.00    Scope Rail and Hammer Offset
$15.00    Millett High Ring
-----------
$226.13  Total
======
Yup, like I said, you struck a good deal...

Yes this is my first Huntsman. I was going to by one last year and decided to by a CVA Optima instead. I like the Huntsman a lot better. Me and him are constantly trading guns to each other. I sure it will shoot good, at least I hope. I plan on using loose Pyrodex powder and CVA powerbelt bullets. What powder have you guys had the best luck with. I do not really care for the pellets.

I shoot 90 grains of Gorex FFFg black powder and 295 gr hollowpoint powerbelts out of mine. With the 3x9 Simmons scope I have on mine I can clover leaf the shots at 100 yards. I haven't really played with any other powder types or measurements of powder. I figured why play with what is working.

The only downside to the black powder is that it is a little messy. You must clean the barrel with a spit wet patch between shots at the very least. Otherwise, by my third shot, the powerbelt will get stuck as I try to stuff it down the barrel.

Thats good to hear buckbeast. So, pyrodex should be just fine. I really like those powerbelts. The ones I have shot at 50 yards were shooting thru the same hole. That was using 100 grain of powder.

I just bought a 1-year-old stainless .50 caliber with scope mounts (no scope) and 10 primer holders for $100 even.  I'm very happy with the deal.
I used to have an old .45 caliber that I sold a few years ago because I didn't like having to keep both .45 and .50 caliber projectiles around.  I gave it away for $50.
