Another 357 herrett newby
« on: April 28, 2004, 03:43:41 PM »
I just picked up a 10" 357 herrett and am getting ready to start loading. The problem I have is that I don't have any data in my reloading manuals for this cartridge. Can anyone steer me in the right direction as far as where I can find data or what you have found that tends to shoot well in yours? I have some brass that is ready for full loads, and some others that are ready to fireform. I seem to hear a lot about using H4227, but have also heard of someone using H322, which would appeal to me since I'm loading that into my 7-30 also. I want something that will shoot good in this one, and am willing to pick a load that has a bit less velocity if it will group better. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I have a Speer manual from 10 years ago or so and the data isn't included. I'm gload to see that they have added it in there.

I just had a buddy who has the Sierra No. 13 manual look up the 357 herrett, but his doesn't have it in there. Can you tell me which revision you are looking at that has it in there?

I could be wrong here, but I think the latest Sierra manual was #5, Speer is #13. :-D

Well, I guess that would explain why he didn't find anything in there.   I guess I'll keep looking.

Geno is right the Sierra manual is #5. Sierra list H4227 for their accuracy and hunting loads. They list some loads using H322 when you go to heavier bullets. What bullet weight do you plan on using?
