On this old 1860 army project, made by pietta, the wedge pin is way to wide. It wont even fit through the cylinder pin. ln the parts catalog it lists this part the same as the 1851, but the one in my 1851 wont fit it either. Does anyone know whats going on? Thanks- Tad

Either a nonstandard copy, possibly why it's in the condition it's in, or somebody already replaced the cylinder pin with the wrong one.

Is the Pietta an older model? I have an older 1851 (15 years) in .44. The opening in the cylinder pin was not properly milled and needed to be opened up a bit.

Yup. Had the problem MOgorilla mentioned. Opened it up with a square jewelers file. Only takes off a little at a time, which is what you want. The base pin metal is soft and it's real easy to take off too much.
