HEAVY 45 long colt loads?
« on: May 03, 2004, 04:08:25 AM »
I know this goes against the grain in this forum, but I didn't know where else to put it.

I'm looking for a very heavy load for my new winchester 94 trails end.  I want something that will be considered a max hunting load for that gun.

Does anyone know where to find some loading data on the web?

Is there any factory amo out there that will fit my needs?

If you handload, use a 250 or so jacketed bullet and WW296 with a magnum pistol primer (you'll have to develop the best load weight).  I use 296 in heavy loads in both 44 Mag and 45 LC.  They HURT in a handgun but perform superbly in a carbine.  My 44 Marlin will shoot 1-1/2 inch groups at 100 yds with a 240 Speer.
