Where to find adult air rifles?
« Reply #30 on: June 10, 2004, 03:38:54 AM »
I'm only stated what they advertise, I would think they would be under law suits otherwise, I was hired to test there high power air gun, the Dragon 50cal, to promote there rifle, bye writing a story about the hunt using the Dragon, I'm free lance,  bye looking at there site they look like they distribute more vender's and MFG's than any other airgun site I ever seen. Also they design there own air guns as well, there is not many distributers that do that. Also The Dragon at 900fps is plenty to kill big game using the dia 50cal, Its was being done when all we had was black powder 45's at 700 fps for many years. Airsporter you tell me any corp that can compete with this category or rifle using a 50cal bullet at 3000psi/ 204 bars. The link you sent, I must say has some fine looking rifles, but take a look at the prices, a ordernary person could not afford it, so only for the elite that have money to throw away, this cuts out 90% of could be buyers, the dragon is under $600.00 very affordable.
I see you like to come off on the wrong foot with people you don't even know, Didn't your mother tell you, first impressions is how someone will see your character and remember you buy.  Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

Yeah, right. They design their own guns? You mean like the xs-b3 Prowler? The one thats "effective up to 250 feet", produces 980fps, and costs $220 just because it has a add-on flashlight and a scope? Elsewhere the same Chinese designed and built xs-b3 costs $60, and shoots at 550fps. This is one of "engineeer" Joshuas ideas I believe. You may want start asking around about a vendor before you go plugging how great they are. Lots of guys into "hardcore" airgunning will tell you how it is and the problems that have occurred with Pyramidair. Airsporter is just trying to tell you up front whats up, so no need to jump all over him either. Shilling for Pyramidair may end up coming back to haunt you in the end.

So I guess what I'm hearing is if the truth hurts, shoot the messenger.

Anyway, before attempting "to go where no man has gone before,"  I suggest checking out this link:

Airsporter, funny how you put down corps without having no real proof, never even owned one, Here we called that talking out your A*S ;) just hearsay. Maybe what you say could be true, that has nothing to do with my bear hunt using the Dragon 50 cal. I will also tell the true testing result, so far things are going well, if there is a change I will report this as well, I have no gain other than keeping the rifle after I writing my story, just sharing info. I have the Dragon 50cal, this is a very impressive air rifle, I can shoot three shots at 30 yards stringing cloverleaf without having to repump, accuracy is as good as any center fire with in its range, thats saying allot. I have had a few problems with the rifle holding proper pressure and a oring gone bad, they corrected the problem right away, assy problem, I have to say the people who work there are very nice and cooperative. Bye the way of those pic's there were no bears either. There has been few hunts for blackbears using air rifle's, this is why I picked this game. Im hunting a zone for trophy black bears as well. I think this is a cool way to hunt big game, Shot placement is very important. Hope to score a good size bruin. Also I never said I was the first to hunt with air rifle for big game either. I have published many of my hunting adventure hunts in Buck Masters and many other orgs... and this will be one more to add to the archives. Something to look forward to this season. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

Ok, I'll bite. Just how IS Pyramid Air so bad?

Sometime in the future, I might be buying a high-quality air rifle and scope. If Pyramid is really awful, I'll spend my money with another reputable vendor.

A number of airgun providers have been named on this thread. If there are some rip-off artists out there, it would be useful for newbies like myself to know about them. This forum is a good spot, as Greybeard seems to be beholden to none of 'em.

So far, we have a complaint that Pyramid overcharges for a certain Chinese airgun, although the price seems just to be the simple sum of the components. Any other specific complaints? URL's where I can find them?

Any other losers out there, too?

Thanks.

With regard to Pyramid:

I had occasion to call there to inquire about a gun. The lady on the phone had some diffifulty(First day jitters?), so she told me to wait for the owner. My impression of him was like that of a used-car salesman, though a 'nice' used-car salesman.  :-) Does that make sense?

Go to their website and look at the "Biz-Rate" service they subscribe to. You can also read the negative feedback they've received over a couple of years. Ninety-percent is an enviable rating in ...say...the automobile sales business. However, there's much room for improvement in a comparatively smaller operation such as a mail-order airgun outfit.

I got NO B.S. from the owners of both AE, and AoA. Coupled with a much better demeanor, my choice in who to do business with is clear.  8)

Rmouleart,

First, I've dealt personally with the Pyramid people.  Only way I'll do business with them now is hand-to-hand, over-the-counter at an airgun show.  Enough said.  BTW, you ever been to one?

And, I'll make a guess that I've probably seen and shot more big bore airguns than you've heard of.  Ever been to Standing Stone?  How about Damascus?  Baldwinsville maybe?

Next, lets see where you've gone so far with two reply posts:

"I see you like to come off on the wrong foot with people..." and

"...we called that talking out your A*S..."

What my mother did teach me (since you also made reference to her, for cryin out loud) is that those who must resort to ad hominem attacks in a discussion have no ground to stand on.

For the less educated readers, Merriam Webster defines "ad hominem" as "marked by an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made."

Enough said.

First of all Airsporter, if there is attack your the one to start it,  I will end it. Talk is cheap,  You can brag about your knowledge of airguns, not even knowing what backround I have or who your dealing with, I never said I was a Airgun expert, I'm a professional hunter and spend many days in the field, your replies just shows your type of personality, personally why would you deal with Pyramid if you bad talk them so bad, Let me know your name so I can tell them what a nice friend your are, befriending people then stabbing them in the back on line in a forum. At least give them the chance to defend themselfs, give Val Gamerman a call and tell him how you think of them, if you were any type of man you would handle your dislikes direct to them, then you could tell us what he said. I can only tell you about my experience with them. Enough said is right, Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

I don't want to bust your ba$$s, but the boss (GB) let's us us this forum for open discussions...not personal attacks.  Let's get back on topic and use our time and knowledge wisely.
