I NEED YOUR OPINION. I'VE BEEN DEBATING ON WHICH ONE OF THESE   TO BUY. THE 375 WIN. IS IN A 94,AND THE 35 REM. IS IN THE MARLIN.I'M GOING TO USE THIS MOSTLY IN THE SWAMP FOR DEER,AND MAYBE IN A FIELD THAT IS ABOUT 300 YDS. AT THE MOST .I'VE NEVER OWNED EATHER OF THESE CALIBERS. ANYTHING YOU CAN TELL ME WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

dave:  the 375 Winchester is a bit understated unless you handload and the 35 Remington is loved by many.  So is the 375 though.  I believe the 35 Rem is more versatle due to bullet offerings.  I prefer the Winchester lever actions, many folks prefer the Marlin.  For what each offers in the calibers you are looking at the choice of rifle is up to your preference.  

Both rifles can be scoped with a center line top mounted scope - the 375 Winchester is an angle eject and has top mounting capability.  However, I don't think (and this will invite comments, for which I will be grateful) either is a 300 yd cartridge but I wouldn't hang my hat on that.  There are folks out there with plain jane Winchester and Marlin lever actions who shoot phenominal distances and a 35 or 375 caliber hole through a whitetail's chest at any distance where you get through and through penetration will bring you home the venison - I believe either caliber is capable of that.

But, with whatever you choose, the responsibility for making a good shot should be a prime concern for any hunter, regardless of the rifle's capability.  Both calibers should perform without fail in close in swamp hunting but I will leave the determination to those more experienced with both calibers on making those longer shots.  This is just my 2 cents worth but I hope it helps.  Mikey.

Dave another factor in  your determanation might be availability of ammunition if you are not a hand loader. Check locally and see which seems to be most commonly available to you. That being equal then I think it is a Mikey said a matter of personal preference of rifles. Both will get the job done though I will not comment regarding distances. Best of luck. POW

Mikey is correct, niether one is a 300 yarder.
When both are handloaded to potential, the 35Rem becomes a 200 yarder and the 375 a bit more, maybe 225-250 on the extreme outside.
These are brush guns, not sniper rigs.  They were designed to be quick handling short range firearms.
There are much better firearms for long shots.  You would do well with an '06 class (either 30 or 25), 6.5, .280, .284, 7mm,  or a .308 for the 300 yarders, or any of the new short mags or super short mags with 150 - 180 gr bullets.

The 35 Rem. is a great cal. We just took in a Remington Model 600 with ventilated rib in 35 Rem today at work. It has been calling my name all day and yes I am weakening. Perhaps Some of you guys could show up at my house for a intervention. John

jae (John), thats not your name the .35 is calling, it's mine!!! If you don't take it put it aside and let me know!! I vote for the .35 over the .375 any day of the week. It is in a Marlin and is inherently more accurate, I have both Marlins and Winchesters and love them both but for accuracy in a lever gun stay with the Marlin, it is MUCH better for long shots. Also the .35 is a tried and true cartridge available most anywhere as loaded round and if you do reload it has much more to choose from...Don't forget me on that .35!!!....<><.... :grin: (P.S. Dave Hall, Are you from Pennswoods?  My wife is from Mckeesport and I had a blast hunting in Clearfield and shooting and hunting at Shaner's Gun Club years ago. Now that I'm retired I'm planning to get out there again to hunt and fish with my brother-in-law :grin: .)

howdy first I am a lever nut and like marlins and love winchesters.my win 94 big bore was made by winchester and isn't a A.E. just flips them up and back.as a handloader the 375 makes much more power and "recoil" than the 35 rem which doesn't come close.a must read article is paco kelly the 375 bone crusher.the first deer I killed was with the 35 rem in a marlin micro-groove barrel.80 yard shot dead deer.I have taken 9 deer with the win 375,1 with a 270 gr cast gc 8 with the hornady 220 gr.I haven't  ever had to track a deer with the 375 the longest one went was 20 paces before hitting the deck.I never shoot over 100 yards even with the williams reciever sight.
to boil all this down both good rifles,I keep my shots 100 yards or less(my limit) so shoulder both and get the one that talks to you.one more point the marlin & winchesters 375's are gaining collector status and every year they gain value.

I agree the 35Rem has much more components and availability, the 375win is like a dieing cart, hard to get brass, if you buy bullets for reloading, most likely they are 375 H&H bullets and the jackets are much to thick for the 375Wins FPS, I ran into this recently reloading for a friend who got the 375win in a trade, factory bullets ran about $21.00 winchesters. Good cart, just so many out there some just die off as other become more popular, like the 45/70 as old as it is there is a great following. I heard a few corp are going to reproduced the 300 Savage cart one of my best carts, in this case a lost cart coming back bye popular demand, a great deer/elk cart, I have the Savage model 99 breakdown sweet rifle, shot more than fifteen deer with it;)So in all I would stay with the 35 Rem, unless your a reloader and have the components you need to reload, but you will still have a hard time finding the right bullets for the 375win unless your going to use cast. ;). I love both cartridges but for availability of ammo I would recommend the 35 Rem. slightly over the 375 Win.  If you want a real meduim bore 300 yard levergun I would suggest the Browning BLR recently made available again in the great 358 Winchester chambering.  Check this article out by Jeff Quinn: http://www.gunblast.com/Browning-BLR358.htm

bullets,brass ect all you want for the 375.win still makes brass,hornady,sierra and barnes make bullets for the 375 win.
