Anyone know the ring height for this combination?
« on: May 10, 2004, 07:33:09 AM »
I have T/C 40 mm 3x9 pistol scope coming from a fellow on this forum.  I have a 22-250 15" Encore barrel also on the way and a Redfield single dovetail base.

With this combination does anyone know what height rings would be necessary for the objective bell on the scope to clear the barrel?  The rings I am considering are the Luepold and the Burris Signature models.  I am thinking I will need the medium to high rings, but not sure which one.

I have this combination on a 15" 30/06 Encore barrel, but with a T/C 32mm 2.5x7 scope.

Thanks for any advise.

I have a 40 mm scope on my 25-06 barrel.  It has medium Burris rings with a Weaver base.

Medium rings .........with your combination your head will be to high off the stock to shoot well with high rings.

This configuration is a pistol.  How is this applicable?

I just want the objective bell of the scope to just clear the barrel.

Do you know if the medium Burris Zee rings have the same height as the Burris Standard rings (single dovetail)?  If so, that Redfield base is higher than the Weaver base, so that will probably work with a little to spare.

Thomas

I am not sure about the ring height, but Burris has the height of their rings on there website.  It is hard to find, but I have found it before.  With my setup I have 1/4" to 3/8" to spare between the barrel and the scope.  Mine is a rifle barrel, but I assume the taper of the pistol barrel is similiar.

Thanks for the info Bullseye,

Midway also has that information in the techincal specs on those products on their website.  I will try to do the math.

Why would you worry about ring heighth when setting up a pistol??   :?

I use the lowest mount possible on my rifle barrels, but with pistol barrels it is a non-issue since you're not trying to keep your cheek on the stock.  I use the high rings on all my pistol-length barrels to give me more access to the hammer.
