Sako 75's
« on: May 11, 2004, 12:47:48 PM »
I'm interested in hearing some reviews from Sako 75 owners.  I am considering one in 7mm-08.  My only experience has been with Rem 700's so I'm looking for some opionions on accuracy, trigger, stock design...etc.
Thanks

I bought a sako 75 last year i broke the barrel in .it took about 18 shots before it stoped fouling worked up some loads with r15 using 168 gr sierra matchkings molly bullets. the rifle is a well made , the trigger is beautiful the detachable mag feeds great it will shoot 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups all day and knocks the 500 meter rams down with no problem at 2400 fps the stock is very nice and fits me well  i love shooting this rifle. nice hunter class rifle                     tony g           rambuster40

I have 2 Sako 75's, and my son has one and my hunting and fishing buddy has 2 (and is going to buy another).  We have never had anything but positive comments about Sako rifles.  Fit and finish, accuracy etc... has been top notch with each.

I have just bought a 75 Hunter/stainless in 7-08 and am very happy with it. I concur with the previous poster who said it took a number of shots to settle down (mine gave bright orange fouling 'til shot number 12 and then started to come out glassy clean). To date I've found all loads at least acceptable and some exceptional - some of the best are 36gn Varget and 130MK and 42gn AR2209 and 175GK. The stock is for me a far better fitting and comfortable stock than any of the other generally available factory rifles. The trigger is outstanding as is the magazine, which I think is the best available. Overall, I think you can't go wrong.

regards,
Nigel.

ps I got mine with the set trigger and it's a gem - the set weight is around 7oz and is not affected by the unset weight which is variable from just under 2lb to around 4lb)

It does.
BUT (unless they've changed their minds since I spoke with them at SHOT) I think that you'll find that, in their paternal wisdom, the folks at BerettaUSA don't believe that anyone here wants anything other than the lightweight 20" bbl version in that caliber...and that's all they import.

Their policy re that round seems to be:
Don't promote it. If few know it's available, there'll be little demand. If there's no demand, we can say that we have no incentive to import.

Sort of a self-created, self-fulfilling prophesy...
