The Better Scope: Sightron II, Nikon Monarch, VX II 3X9?
« on: May 12, 2004, 11:23:51 AM »
Based on my budget and comparable product features, one of these three scopes will be my next purchase.  More than likely, any of the three will be a good choice.  Is there a standout in this crowd?

Thank you.

I can't believe no one has responded to this post yet.... :?

The answer to your question - is Nikon Monarch!

However, you may also want to consider the Elite 4200 as well.  It's a bit pricier, but worth the money.

I agree that the Monarch is the better scope of these three. I think the Monarch is the best scope made in its price range. While the Leupold is still an excellent scope, I do not think it has improved in the last decade or more like the Nikons, Weaver or Bushnell. Good luck in your decision

I think the Sightrons and especially the SII series of scopes are the most underrated scope out there. They have very compact dimensions and light weight..bulletproof tracking system, great eye relief and extremely clear optics just great resolution.  No they don't have TV ads or full color ads in magazines or gun writers bragging about them  but they are a relatively young company and they make a great product.  Their warranty is nothing to sneeze at either probably the best in the business. I have heard plenty of complaints about Nikons CS on a lot of sites that makes me very hesitant to purchase them. The Monarch line suffers from too much tube black in the image.  They do however make a beautiful scope(s) in the Gold series.
The VX II is also no slouch since it is basically a vari-xIII from last year with quick focus eyepiece but no 1 piece tube. That is the only difference between it and the old Vari-x III. Go with either one and you'll not be disappointed.

salukijoe,

Did you ever buy the scope?  Which did you get?  Where did you get it?
