Guys, what brand primers do you prefer and why? I shoot mostly bottle neck rounds in TC's.

I have use both CCI and Winchester.  Never had a problem with either.  I would probably go with Winchesters only because they are easier for me to get here in town.

Moe,  I think I have used just about every brand and size over the years.  There are some very minor and slight differences with some combinations and some run a little hotter than others.  There are also minor differences between individual lot numbers, however small.

The only advise I would give you to pick one and try it.  Always work up your loads from the published data.

I have used CCI, Winchester and Federal.  I can't say that I have noticed much, if any, difference in how my reloads shoot.  I try to go with what my reloading manuals recommend but 99% of the time I use CCI or Federal because they are the brands I can get the easiest.

I use Winchester mostly. The only primer I will not use anymore is Remington. I had a box of 1000 and had 15-20 duds. I still have a box of 100 around some place.

I use mostly Winchester, and Federal......a few CCI's. On these & other forums, I've seen guys complain most frequently about the CCI's, but I have to say I have never yet had a problem with them.......just my 2 cents. jd45.

Which Primer Brand?

I began using CCI (Cascade Cartridge Inc.) when they were made by a small individually owned company in Lewiston, Idaho. They were priced well below the big manufacturers such as Win, Fed, & Rem and forced them to bring their prices into line. In well over forty years of reloading for pistol, rifle, and shotgun I have never had a dud. I still use CCI.
