of opportunity. Had to keep my grandboys tonight, and it rained too. Had been puzzlin' over why my 44 wasn't shootin' as good as it has in past, so I took the opportunity to clean it real good. Swabbed the bore down, scrubbed it up, ran a few patches through it, took my flashlight to the muzzle and was greated by......silver streaks  You know the ones, they lie at the root of the land and groove hopin' you won't notice, but there they were, plain as day....growl, grumble, snarl, snarl, snarl  The only thing worse than finding these evil streaks in your barrel is not being sure how they got there. I have a few suspicions, and I am the one and only to blame for my experiments, but after getting the lead out, again, (yes Elizebeth, I have done this to myself before) I will not allow it to happen again.
So I am looking for a window of opportunity Saturday morning before noon, so that I can shoot the 44 in the hopes of turning in a respectable group. I have a couple from over the week that are passable, but none yet up to snuff. I will have to be more cautious in future about opening my mouth about how good my rifle shoots, (I have debated sending in a target or two from the past, but decided I would rather have a clear conscience.....truely priceless....besides my usual target media is the large faces coke and beer cardboard packages.....cheep and they come in the house every week, one less bit of paper in the landfill)
So, come Saturday morning, if it is not raining, perhaps I will have a decent 44 target to send in along with my 357 target. If not, then I will be sending a sample or two of my not so better work.
My thanks to WlScott for undertaking the role of judge for us, and my thanks to all who are sending in a target or two or three. We went through a rough spell at the first of the year, that we are holding another postal match speaks well of this group and the fine gentlemen each of you are. I do not know what more to say than that I enjoy being a part of this circle of cyberspace friends. Perhaps one day we will get together in person. More about that over the winter....Thanks, JP
