The hogs are moving great with all this high water here in E TX, we took 24 hogs the last 2 days on the river. Didnt fire a shot or need the bay dogs as they were on the river bank with nowhere to go. Just throw the catch dogs out and then tie them up and move to the next one.

We did let the majority of them go after we caught and tied them, especially the piggy sows. No since hurting the population, got to leave some seed so we can have more days like this when the weather is right. Did loose one dog though, got caught in the gut with a tusk and died after hunting the next morning. $800 gone quick. Oh well start raising some more puppies and buy another started dog.

Shooter,
Sorry about loosing you dog, Know how it feels i've lost some dogs to bears and lions but it happens. I hate it when you loose one of your main dogs. It's not the money its the time you have spent training the dog and the bond that you have made with them. Never had a chance to run hogs
with dogs,,, I'll bet its a lot of fun. I have been looking for a place to do some pig hunting but so far i have'nt had much luck. Did go to dickens county for a hunt and the wind was blowing so bad you couldent see your hand in front of your face and it was a one time deal so i missed out. Oh well some day if the good lord is willing. yall have a good one down in Texas................Joe......................................................................

You do the  same, yes it sucks to loose a good dog, I didnt have alot of time involved in that one as he was bought already hunting his own and several years old, but he sure was a go getter. Got a couple of Yellow blackmouth curs to start over with and will see how they do. Bout wrapped it up for this year(getting to hot and dont run dogs during deer season) but maybe we could swap out next year, hog with dog for lion or bear with same or other game.

have a good un   Shooter

Shooter,
Would love to trade out a hunt, But i got my two lead dogs poisened and it made me so sick i gave the rest of my dogs away and havent had any hounds since, The one dog i have now is a brittany bitch and i use her to hunt dove & quail.

What happened was i was working away from home, I had told my wife not to mess with my hounds and that she couldent handle them, Well any way  i got a call at the motel where i was staying and she was bawling and slinging snot and said i let your dogs loose so they could get some exercise and they ran off, When i got home that weekend i looked all over for my dogs, Well i finally found them, My old and his son 18 mo.s old and all ready striking and taking the trail to the tree. I haven't hunted with hounds since.    have a good day Shooter maybe our paths will cross again some day................Joe.............................................................
