Lurker with a question
« on: May 20, 2004, 03:10:11 AM »
I have been lurking here for several months now, and found allot of information here. I have a collection of cannon numbering about 200. They range from 3/4" long to a newly acquired tube that has a 2 3/16" bore, 34" long and it is made of brass or bronze. I was told that it came from Bannermans in 1966. I believe that it is a 2/3 scale 6 pounder.  Now for my question. My newly acquired brass cannon looks as though it was cast solid then bored but I want to be safe and have it bored a little bigger and put a 2"ID steel liner in it. Can anyone here recommend a machine shop that can/will do this? I live in East Tennessee.

mtnman, sure would like to see some photographs of some or all of your
cannon collection. It would really liven up the site!
Thanks

That's quite a collection.  We'd love to the pix of the project as well as selections from the collection.

Wow.  You could have the whole neighborhood out to a mortar shoot - if you got powder in 25 lb kegs!
