The plastic annoys me too.  I've thought about replacing the plastic on mine, but decided against it.

My Savage 110 also has a plastic trigger guard and magazine follower as well.  Brownells lists the metal trigger guard at $14.95 for that and around $25 for an aluminum mag follower.  Still deciding on those . . . .

Yeah MGMorden....If the NEF trigger guard was 15 bucks I'd still have to think about it but 40 bucks! Yikes!    :x

I think half the fun of owning a gun, is customizing it, and working out the wrinkles. I've been keeping my eyes open for a piece of brass that I can work on to make these parts from. The BC sure would look fine with a brass trigger guard and spacer! I've even given some thought to trying to cast my own, but there's a lot involved in that.

While looking for the metal trigger guard at brownell's(before Mac told me the source) I found part number 427-000-020, trigger guard, NEF stndard & Ultra. So I emailed them to find out if it was metal. This is their response:
"Thank you for contacting Brownells.

Our technical department has advised that stock number 427-000-020 is a metal original NEF factory replacement part, finished and ready for installation.

Anyone used this trigger guard? If it works, sure is less expensive than the H&R version at less than $14 !!

I think, for as little as it costs, I'll order one the next time I need something from brownell's and I'll post the results if someone doesn't do so first.

I decided to just order it, also ordered the spacer for $3.31, probably plastic, but I'll find out. Placed the order about an hour ago, just got confirmation that it ships today! Total order cost $20.70. I needed a new catalog anyway....

Got it, it's nicely blued but don't know how it fits cuz my frame is still at H&R. The spacer is plastic. :(  Not too concerned about that tho. I'll let ya know how the tg fits once I get the frame and 25-06 barrel back from H&R.  Tim

HaHaHa...yeah sure, then by the time you tell me it fits fine, you'll have cleaned em out of the only 3 they have left and I won't get one! Seriously, if you want to post a photo, you need a web site to store it, hunt101.com is what I use, they make it real easy, if you have a digital camera, and a photo editor, you'd be all set. pm me if you want some guide lines.

i see that trigger guard has two holes in it for the pins.the plastic one that comes on the handi rifle has three holes in it,two big ones and one small one.there are two big pins and one small pin.you will see when you go to drive the pins out of your frame.maybe that trigger guard will work with the two big pins only and the small pin will just go back into the frame filling the hole back up in the frame

Probably not the Handi-rifle, doesn't say it will fit it. Says standard and Ultra. Not having my frame here, I wouldn't know the difference.

I hope "standard" and "ultra" aren't in reference to H&R's old Mauser based bolt actions.

the handi rifle, the ultra and all the shotgun and muzzle loader frames are the same setup.the case hardened frames (SB1)  are on the shotguns and the strong blued frames (SB2) are on the centerfire rifles.the rimfire sportster frames are setup the same way too.i have done trigger jobs on all of the above

sorry

before you dig right in and start driving the pins out you may want to read this about doing a trigger job.

Guess I might be sending it back to Brownell's if that is the case. I don't intend on doing a trigger job myself unless the factory job is less than satisfactory, I asked for a 3lb trigger when I sent the frame in for an additional barrel. I already printed the instructions for honing the trigger components by Raynor a couple weeks ago in case I don't like the factory job. I've also downloaded Perklo's instructions. Thanks

That trigger guard from Brownells looks like it is for the older H&R Ultra semi-Automatic rifles.  I believe there was a version called the standard which would explain the part listing.  It will not work on the single shot Ultra, or the handi rifles.

After looking at some photos I stand corrected that trigger guard from Brownells looks like it would fit the H&R bolt action rifles, not the semi-autos.
