What Scale targets are used for cowboy rimfire?
« on: May 21, 2004, 07:14:47 AM »
I know the regular rimfire matches use the 1/5 scale targets.  I have a set of 3/8 scale rimfire targets for handgun.  What to use?  :D

It's hunter pistol with rifles.
1/2 scale, pigs @50m, turkeys @75m.
Pistol time limits. 30 second ready 2 minute fire.

:D Thanks nomad.  I think I will give it a go with the 3/8ths targets since I already have em and see what I think.  I think in HP the Chickens are at 40m instead of 25 correct?

Yup.  I did the math on it and the 1/2 scale target @ 40 yards is a bit harder to hit than the 3/8 scale @ 25 (equivalent would be out at 30 yards instead for the 3/8th size chickens).

Another way to look at it is the Hunter Pistol chickens have about 16% less relative surface area to hit.  On the other hand, I would LOVE the opportunity to shoot at 1/2 size turkeys @ 75 yards instead of the 3/8 scale that I've been used to at our IHMSA shoots!!!

Thanks for info BK  :D

I swith back and forth on what is tougher the turkeys at 75 or the Rams at 100.  Usually depends on the day.  Of course when I miss a pig that always makes me scrath my head

Often we shoot FP and SB at the same match and those 1/2 scale turkeys do look a lot bigger than what 1/8th scale difference sounds like.

They set the range I use up in meters which makes things slightly worse.
