--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey all,

I thought that I knew a little about Anschutz's rifles especially since I own two of them. However, I am wondering about the naming conventions and differences between the 1700fwt, 1710fwt, 1712fwt. I have also seen these same models with a D attached to the names. What is the difference between all of these models, is it the just the time for the period that they were produced? What does the D stand for?

I have a 1712fwt with a blue graphite stock. I have never seen anyone else with this stock color, does anyone know if there were many of them made?

Thanks

The 1700 had a slight mod and became the 1710.  Another mod and you have the 1712.  My 1712 has a different trigger guard than the eirler models.  I am not sure of what other mods were made.  The 1700 was imported as a barreled action and stocked with a McMillian stock and became the FWT.  The assembly was done by several dealers around the US.  Most of them have stamped the reciever with their name.  I don't think the stock color means anything.  Some were grey, some black and a few blue.

Thanks Jerry,   I guess I will be seeing you at nationals.  Doesn't look like I am going to be able to swing it for Lander.

There is one difference that most people don't know about between the 1700 fwt and the 1712 fwt.   The hole spacing for scope mounts are different.  The holes are almost 1/4" difference between 2nd & 3rd hole.  Makes one piece mounts where they are not interchangable.   Don

"D" is, as I understand it, for "Direkt Abzug". In German, Abzug is trigger and direkt means single stage.
As for the model # changes, keep in mind that you're dealing with a bunch of hard-headed Germans.    (I KNOW -- I come from a loooooong line of them!)  :)  EVERY change, no matter how minor, requires a model designation change, suffix, prefix, addendum, whatever.  (Everyzing MUST have a place und it MUST always be in zat place or ve vill haf disorder -- und zat iss absolutely VERBOTEN!)
