280 Repair and Extra Barrel
« on: May 21, 2004, 04:00:07 PM »
I sent my new 280 synthetic in for repair on 4/19 and ordered a 270 barrell while it was in the shop.  They shipped it back on 5/19 and missdirected it to another person with the same name in Cleburne, Texas.

That's good turn around time.  Maybe I will get the Rifle next week after UPS gets it turned around and headed to Manchester, Tn.

Anybody got a Handi 270?  If so how does it do?

Tacomaj,
I don't have a 270 handi/ultra but I have the 280.  One of my friends has the 270 and we shoot together quite a bit.  His 270 tends to shoot most factory ammo around 1.5" at 100 yds.  His best groups (just under 1 inch) have been with federal premium 130 nbt loads.  My 280 seems to be a pretty good shooter.  I only have a few boxes of ammo thru it but I have seen a few sub MOA groups and its still breaking in.  With the 270 and 280 being so close why did you choose that caliber as an additional barrel?

Funny you say misdirected. I had the same thing happen when I sent my Huntsman in for a couple of shotgun barrels. I get a gun back in the mail and it's not mine. I later find out it is my dad's (we have the same name). My gun was returned to him. Instead of giving the H & R shipping department another chance to hose it up, we just swapped with each other. One thing about it, they billed his CC for both of my barrels, and billed my CC for his one barrel. We straightened that out ourselves too.

oneshotonekill,

There was no particular reason to get the 270.  I like to shoot and develop loads.  Just wanted to see what I could get out of the 270 barrel.  I have the dies for both.
