35 rem loads ?
« on: May 24, 2004, 01:06:54 PM »
Just loaded a few 35 Rem for a thompson contender. I used the lyman 47th as reference. The load is 34.5 grains of IMR 3031 with a 357 JHP (pistol bullets) I made the overall length 2.20". I think everything is ok bullets just look funny not much projectile sticking out of the brass shell. Does this sound ok brass was trimmed to 1.91 " projectile is .655".

Thanks for any input.

You didn't indicate what the bullet weight was but the charge you listed would most likely be safe for anything 200 grains or less acording to the IMR guide.  I've started to use blue dot my self for pistol bullets in the .35.  More loads to the pound.  The pistol bullet sure do look funny in that long bottle neck case don't they?

I have never tried that.  I am shooting a 14" barrel.  Are these loads hunting accurate?

I'm working on that now with some 205 grain cast loads.  Need some range time to sort out the proper charges but accuracy is a goal.

Hello.. We are using the 180g XTP and @37 grains of IMR 3031. Also 29.5 grains of IMR 4198..That round has two cannalures. Seat in the first if the bullet is off the lands. It usually isn't and has to be deeply seated as the previous person stated.. My buddy smoked a big doe and a large 8 point within 10 minutes one evening last deer season. He was seating in the second cannalure and the heretic was using a Marlin carbine in .35 Remington, but the results are similar. cbagman
