Stock Replacement Questions
« on: May 26, 2004, 07:47:08 AM »
Has anyone had any experience with the aftermarket replacement stocks, particularly for a Savage 110 LA? I am thinking of replacing the hardwood stock from the factory with a synthetic (preferably a camo pattern or something a tad more attractive than basic black). I have seen some syn stocks advertised as drop in/no smithing needed but was wondering just how close reality matched the claim.

Also if anyone has some recommendations on replacement stocks that are not overly pricey (I need to keep the budget to a reasonable level), I'd like to hear about that as well.

Thanks.

All the synthetics I've seen needed tweaking before they fit right..  If they were truly drop in for every rifle they would fit none of them right..  I'd look at laminated stocks as they give the stability of sybthetic with the warmth of wood..
