Gun or Ammo?
« on: May 26, 2004, 05:27:04 PM »
I took my new Tracker Ti 41 Magnum to the range today with both PMC and federal Premium ammo.  After firing the PMC ammo, the ejector rod would only push the cases about 1/4 inch from the cylinder, and then they had to be pulled (and I mean pulled from the cylinder.  This was consistent with all of this ammo.  The Federal Premium wasn't nearly as tight, but the ejector rod still would not push them out cleanly - they need to be pulled out.  Is this just inferior ammo (PMC)?  If so, how to explain the Premiums?  Or do I have a problem with incorrectly sized cylinder holes, and need to send it back to Taurus?  Any help will be appreciated.

Crawdog, I would try a couple more different brands of ammo first and then if you still have the problem send it back to taurus.... :D

sorry to hear that you having problems with your 41 mag.all I can tell you is my tracker in SS has been a pure pleasure to shoot and no problems.
I have loaded up some mild to wild handloads and the cases come out with no sticking.I use only starline brass so far.maybe a polish job might help things out.

believe it or not, that pmc ammo you have is probably running pretty high in velocity and also in pressure.   i bought a box to play with and this stuff was leaving me with a sore shoulder.  so i ran it through the chrono and it was running higher than my handloaded ammo of the same weight.  much higher.  so i surmised that unless you want high velocity ammo stay away from pmc.  with high velocity usually means higher pressures.  thus causing you cases to stick in your cylinder.  i bet it is the ammo.  try other stuff and you shoud be alright.  besides,  pmc aint the best brass to be had anyway.
