GREEN MT. BPCR 4140 BARRELS
« on: May 27, 2004, 09:25:50 AM »
Has anyone here used Green Mt. 4140 BPCR barrels. Are they high quality. I've had 2 on order from badger for 31 weeks, I can't wait any longer. I'm sure there worth the wait but I've got other projects coming up and need to get this one done. Thinking of getting their 34" heavy sharps barrel and fitting it to my no# 5 remington rolling block.

Yes, I have one of the GM barrels on my Ballard #4. I opted for the full octagon, and cut it to Ballard half octagon dimensions. I left it at 34" as the original barrel was that length.  Mine is a .45-70 cal.
It's one of the finest shooting barrels I have, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another!

Thanks Marlinman93, I tried to order mine from GM today but they are closed on friday. I'll give it another try tuesday. Kinda hard to hold a roller with no barrel

I recieved my Green mt. barrel a couple weeks ago. I threaded it, chambered it for 45/70, cut dove tails for sights  and shot it 10 times, cleaning it between each shot until there was no more copper in the bore then shot it 10 more times cleaning it between every 2 shots. It just got easier and easier to clean and kept getting smoother . It looks like it's going to be the most accurate rifle I have. The barrel I chose was the Sharps #1 heavy 45 L which is 34" long, (4140). It's the only Rolling Block I've shot except for .22 cal.  They sure are a lot of fun.
