Single shot pistol bullets

Who makes the single shot pistol bullets, how do they perform better, and are they manufactured in .224 caliber? Thanks.

Sierra makes them and yes they do come in .224. They fly great!

Single shot pistol bullets have a thinner jacket to allow better expansion at lower (handgun) velocities. I know Sierra makes one @.243 , .284" and .308", not sure about .224" they don't list one on their site - doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

i'm pretty sure they don't make one for 22 caliber guns. sierra and hornady make some that i know of. 6mm, 7mm, and .30 cal. i used the 6mm 80gr sierra single shot pistol bullet on a small doe this year in my 6br encore pistol. at about 125 yards, it worked great. she went down instantly. the bullet did very impressive damage. i've also heard others swear by this bullet for vermin to deer. good all around bullet in 6mm handguns.
i contacted sierra on the 6mm 80 gr blitz bullet and they said the blitz would be almost perfect on deer out of a 6tcu handgun. i'm gonna give that one a try too. it's a good lookin bullet, i know. :D

Hornady makes them in .35 also and they work great.  I shot my first handgun deer a few years ago with a "rifle bullet", and the velocity was to slow for the bullet to open up.  We found the deer 600 yards away missing a lung.  I have never had a deer go as far since I changed to the bullet designed for handguns.  The longest they have run since is 60 yards.

Everyone has their favorites and mine is the Sieera 130 Grain SSP 7MM. It is accurate, penetrates well and tranfers tremendous energy and shock. I have dropped three Bucks and a doe with it now and one went ten feet, the other three dropped in their tracks. Ranges between 20 and 125 yards. I have not experimented with another as this works perfect and like granpappy said ;"when somthin works ya sticks with it!"

I have experience with the Hornady .30 and .35 caliber bullets in .30-40 Krag and .35 Remington, respectively, in 14" barrels.  Both work very well.  So does the 180 Speer designed for the .35 Remington Rifle.  I have some Sierra SSP bullets in 7mm and .30 caliber, but haven't connected with them yet.
