Hey Guys,

I was wondering what the most popular barrel lenghts for the FA 357 and 44 mag are.

In the 44 mag. (and 41 mag.) the 10" barrel is standard on the silhouette class revolvers. The 357 mag comes with a 9" barrel standard on the silhouette class. You can order a 357 mag with a 10" barrel (extra cost) and it must have the wood grips (extra cost) on it to make weight (<4lbs.). Shorter barrels may also be shot, but safety concerns in the freestyle position and the shorter sight radius come into play. As to which cal. is the best for silhouette, all will do the job very well.

Thanks for the reply volleyman.

I’m about as ignorant as they come about silhouettes but I do enjoy shooting small groups with an iron sighted revolver. One of these days when time permits I’d like to give it a shot. I want to buy a FA in either 357 or 44 mag but I really prefer 6” barrels. Thought I might buy a 357 to shoot paper with and wanted to know what barrel lengths were commonly used in silhouette. I had noted the offerings in the silhouette guns listed on FA web site but wondered if people regularly used shorter barrels.

Be Safe,
Scott
