Nice purchase congrats!!!!  Thats been on my list for quite some time now a Romanian Dragunov 7.62x65 sinper rifle.  Did you look up the range on these babies??                                                              BigBill

Bill don't get confused on the Dragonov rifles.. the Romak-3/PSL /SSG97
are not Dragonov's
Look at the pic here the only true Drag is the Russian SVD... the Norinco is a Chinese copy ... The Yugo is its own , and the Romak is a scaled up AK

Alot of gun wholesalers advertise the Romak as a Drag ... that's just a marketing ploy

Yes many dealers advertised it as a Romanian Dragunov I think everyone did just that.  My local dealer had them for around $900 which isn't bad considering most of the others or similair guns were $2500 to $3000.  The scaled up ak reciever sure gets my vote and this gun would still be my pick too no matter what. All of these are a step up from the SVT-40 Tokarev which paved the way.  They had problems with SVT-40 only because they didn't teach their guys about the maintenance of the semi-automatic rifles and once they did they were reliable from then on.  A lot of guys think it was the gun but it wasn't my two svt-40's just hammer away without a skip or a miss but they sure would look better with one of yours sitting between them for sure.  Thanks for enlighting us on the mistakes and miss information made by all the dealers.  Either way its a pretty one!!!!                                                      BigBill

What can I say?  But, WOW!!!!!!!!

Now a couple of questions -

Are any of the parts interchangable between the Norinco, Dragunov, Yugo and the Romak?

Have you fired these or are they in the "collectible category"?

If so, which is the most accurate?  Is there a difference in workmanship or quality of materials used?

How do they fare in sniper competitions?

Do you use military or "hand-made" ammunition?  Which commercial (military) round is the best?

and FINALLY, what the does the symbol (logo) next to your name mean?

No matter what, WELCOME to this Forum!  Ya' see what happens, you start dragging out guns like that and you open up a plethora (my word for the week!) of comments!

First off the 4 rifles in the pic  are not mine,,, I post this pic as a way of providing some info about the differences between them...

I do own a PSL  this one:

 I shoot Wolf 147 grain or Czech Silvertips in it.. it is a very accurate rifle
for what it is..
I would love to get my hands on a SVD  but those are expensive and very
hard to find..
The Norinco NDM are around also but getting scarce. the sole supplier
is down to maybe just a few in stock as no more will ever be imported
again...
Same with the Yugo... only the importation of them dried up long ago
and some were imported and were classified as a full auto weapon by the ATF and were confiscated...
As of now the only ComBloc snipers(semiauto) avaliable are the ones that are already in the country..   and the only ones imported are the PSL's

Psl's are also avaliable as a kit , several wholesellers have them along with the recievers(a ffl item).. at a much cheaper price...or you can buy
the whole rifle as i did..

As far as parts interchangeability go,, the SVD and the Norinco NDM
can use some parts from each other...not so with the others..

Even though the PSL is a overgrown AK the only parts that will interchange  with a standard AK clone are the trigger parts, every thing else is different..

The altar that i use is the markings of the Eqyption Factory 54 where the
Maddi AK 47 varient was made , as i have one of these fine rifles

along with a couple other AK models....

I knew I read it somewhere about the russian SVD Dragunov having the probable killing range of 4,158yds.

I believe the effective range from a svd is closer to 800 meters...
we are talking about the 7.62x54r ... in fact the POS scopes that are outfitted have a range finder in them that goes (if i remember ) to 1000
meters..

The POS scope on my rifle has a range finder in it also 1000meters max

Your posts are excellent!  

NOW for the real question - How did you get your photographs to display on this forum?  Have been trying for sometime now and have not had any success at all - so here comes the new guy and Bingo!! he has great pictures.

Could you tell us how you did it?  Have wanted to place some pics in the topic replies for awhile....

Go to a on line photo storage site like this one
http://photobucket.com/
open a acct (there free)
upload the pics you want there from your machine
Each pic you upload will have 3 different way to use the photo
A URL address
A Tag address
A IMG address

to post a pic on a message forum, just copy the bottom IMG and paste it
to the message body on the forum ,, using your mouse... super easy..

hope this makes sense to ya ....

OOPS this is a military gun forum i better post a gun   lol....


there my Wasr-10 with a 75 round drum mag !! :grin:

It says probable range 4, 158yds. the 7.62x54 bullet still has killing power at that range.  I take it like if you really know your rifle you just maybe able to take a shot like quigly down under did.  There is a story about a guy called California "JOE" during the civil war making a 2 mile shot too.  I never under estimated what  these weapons in the right hands what they can really do.                          BigBill
