quickdtoo,
I tried a SnapOn torque wrench that only went up to 200 in. lbs. The problem I had was the screw head pulling through the wood/synthetic. I have swithched to flat blade screws and snug the screw down with the screw slot in the same position each time.

I'm thinking that is way too much torque but not having a rifle, I can't really say. But, I do know that my cz like 25-30in/lbs torque, any more and it really affects the group size, but that is in a normal one piece stock with 2 action/barrel screws. The line-up-the-screws method has always been my standby, also, I even put a mark on some of my rifles to align a mark on the screw with so it consistent. But the torque method should work for differing weather conditions, also. Thanks... tim
