I agree. There is an ignore list, use it if someone aggravates you. This was a ghost town prior to Dali's appearance (resurrection?) and I like seeing the increased activity. I do think the board is diminished by the needless hostility though. Relax, this is the internet. It's not really that important.  :-) And anyone that has that beautiful rifle in their signature line can't be as bad as some seem to think.  :-D

Wow, sounds like a lot of folks would be happy just to have the postal carrier deliver them tons of junk mail so they would be getting lots of mail, or have their evenings occupied by telephone solicitors just so they could have a social life.  I am sorry, but I didn't realize that you boys here were so desperate for attention.

Just too bad that the ignore feature only works for individual users and you can't specify an entire forum so that when you do a search for new stuff, the posts from that forum would not show up.

Tom:  I don't think comparing tons of junk mail with the list of Dali's posts makes for much of an analogy.  I think you just don't like Dali's style or his politics or whatever which is clearly your right.  My point is simply that I don't think anybody is out anything by having Dali post here (a lot) and making the decision to read his stuff or not.

I think what needed most in this debate is some perspective.

I see the similarity in the wish to achieve quantity at the expense of quality.   Well, now if that's what you boys like for entertainment that's fine with me, but I can't imagine how you can refer to those posts as civil discourse with elaboration, but rather as sniping to continue getting attention.

Graybeard say he think it time one and all gets off Dali's case and moves on with life.

If you don't like his posts and don't wish to see them here then:

1. Add him to your "ignore" list, or

2. Move on to where he isn't.

This seems quite simple to me. If you don't wish to read posts by someone then DON'T! Geez how simple can that be?

This entire thread more or less constitutes a personal attack on Dali. Like him or not personal attacks ARE NOT permitted on this site. Cease. It only provokes more of same and leads to no good. I pretty much don't care what you guys talk about and as long as you follow the rules don't sweat the small stuff but dang it either read his stuff or ignore him as you please.

As for me I find some of the stuff he posts interesting. The rest I can easily skip over so no he isn't and won't be on any ignore list for me. But then neither is anyone else.

I don't have a problem with his posting (a lot) and I don't have a problem with his "logic" (uh, yeah), but I do have a problem with the lack of respect he shows to those who disagree with him.  I think this board is made more valuable by having an intelligent discussion about issues facing sportsman and gun owners, but when I, Thomas, or any other person disagrees with him he: a)ignores their points and; b)makes some stupid crack about your motivations.  All I wish is that he would treat other people's opinions with the respect that he expects his opinions to receive.  I also believe that to respect someone's opinion you have to address the basis of the point, and speak in a manner that shows you’re capable of presenting opinions worth taking seriously.  This is not a personal issue for me, I just wish he would post in a manner that showed respect for opinions other than his, or even respectfully disagreed in a coherent and logical fashion.

I’m unfamiliar with marlin talk or any other good, large, hunting/gun message board, and I haven’t got any preconceived notions based on anything that happened elsewhere.

Nanook,

1.  Calling the Dali Lama a cult figure is not a very open minded or even correct thing to say.

2.  There's nothing wrong with speaking in the third person.  THere's no law against it, there's no biblical quote against it, and there is no moral against it.  There's no internet chatroom code that says you can't speak in the third person.  The thing however, that is most despised on the internet, is intolerance, much like you are showing.

3.  Some really smart guy once said "Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.".  I wouldn't go slapping anyone if I were you, some one might think you're an idiot yourself.
um, er, yeah.  okay.

So, do Dali Llama understand correctly that, according to Nanook 450, utilization of different grammatical category of speech and employment of user name of personal choice provide ample and sufficient reason to hate and slap someone? :?  :?  :?  Dali say he hear of intolerance of difference before, but this take proverbial cake!

First of all......

Congratulations on "reaching your goal"  Dali.

What is your next pursuit going to be?  As your number one fan, I feel I deserve to know.  By the way, do you have old keyboards lying around?  I bet we could a fortune for them (especially if you signed them) on eBay!
